This is a stylish and well directed platformer with a load of fun characters and a focus on nonviolent game design, swinging around with your tongue and doing wall jumps is intuitive and feels great but requires skill. Similar to other great recent indie platformers. This game is unique in that it has no enemies, although the environment is packed with detail. there's a bit more of a focus on trial and error sections that you might be stuck on for some time before passing. Beating every level a rewarding and challenging experience. For what it is Croaking Around is a 10/10

Wow... this is super beautiful. Animation is absolutely great.

I like pixel art just fine, plenty of exquisite examples around, but I'm glad you chose this style to make your game. I not only prefer it, but is also quite rare to see a platformer made with this type of linework. Makes it more unique, I feel.
In any case, great work. I'll try to remember to come back in a few days when I finish the game to comment on the gameplay.

Happy New Year 2025! :)

bro i love linear platformers so much and this game might be the best i have played on itch. Generaly im playing while watching something so i dont wanna think about things so much. i wish i played this game when i was a kid. But my monitor stretch some black smokey things while screen moving and because of the color palette of game its hard to keep track of player for me. buttons acting like walls kinda annoyed me but its game design choice i think. Comic style and cutscenes are very cool. Good job

Hi glad you enjoyed the game!

If it's not too much trouble, could you send me a screenshot of the "black smokey things"?

It would help me identify and fix the issue

na bro, its not about your game its about my monitor, it happens everytime  but you can feel it much in games,  and high contrasted dark areas. because everything has black outline, fast paced, and have some dark levels in game. while moving it feels like you re little dashing and leave a "smoke" behind as i say (like the dash animation in celeste) and it makes hard to keep your eye on platforms and everything. My monitor is msi and they were marketing it as a "most curved monitor ever" when i buy so it might be also effecting. But thanks for even asking to help.. (sorry for bad english)

Nice! It reminds me Suprefrog from 1993.

It would be really cool if someone made one!

I am honestly surprised how well the game plays, looks and sounds

I only wish that some centain sfx would be more powerfull (first level's intro's impact for example should be more powerfull), but that's just a nitpick

At most that the smooth camera could be toggleable, it's a bit too hard to see where you are going when you are falling for too long or going way too fast

Now I kind of wish I kept working on a simmilar game I've had, considering alot of this one reminds me of it, but oh well

Keep it up! I'm looking forward to see what's next!

Thanks I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Also question I forgot to add, discord (server) perchance?

Like making one? I wasn't planning on it

I mean, I'd definitely would be interested in a server where you post your projects and stuff, pretty much a general personal server, not just related to Croaking Around

It might be a good idea to make one at some point. Right now I try to post on twitter (@scallybag01) semi-frequently if you want to see more of my stuff :)
